Privacy Policy
AZ HomeShield
Last Updated: July 31, 2026
Effective Date: July 31, 2026
Lawn Care Journal LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an Arizona limited liability company, operates the AZ HomeShield mobile application and related public website at azhomeshield.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use AZ HomeShield (the “App”) or those Website pages (the “Website”).
Scope. This Policy covers AZ HomeShield only. It does not govern the separate Lawn Care Journal app or the main lawncarejournal.app website (including newsletter signup), which have their own privacy policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
The App stores your AZ HomeShield records locally on your device using Apple Core Data. When you sign in, the App can also sync a cloud copy to Google Firebase (Firestore and Storage) so your data can back up and sync across your devices. Most day-to-day editing happens on device; cloud sync is tied to your signed-in account as described below.
1.1 Information You Provide
In the App (stored locally; synced to Firebase when signed in):
- Account / authentication: Sign in with Apple creates a Firebase Auth account. We receive an Apple identity token and associate a Firebase user id (uid). Apple may provide a relay email or your email depending on your Sign in with Apple choices.
- Home information: Home nickname, property address, move-in or warranty-related dates you enter, and custom rooms.
- Issue records: Issue titles, descriptions, status, dates, room assignments, tags, linked issues, timelines, and notes.
- Photos: Issue photos and room cover images you attach; stored on device and, when signed in, uploaded to Firebase Storage.
- Builder contact information: Builder company, contact name, email, phone, and optional Arizona ROC license number you enter.
- Builder communication logs: Records of emails, phone calls, responses, contractor visits, poor repairs, and notes you log, including dates and text you provide.
- AI evaluation outputs: Results returned when you request AI evaluation, stored with the related issue.
- Household sharing: Invite tokens and membership roles when you share a home or accept an invite (see §1.1 Shared homes).
- Export artifacts: PDFs you generate may be saved locally or shared by you outside the App; we do not receive them unless you send them to us for support.
When you request AI evaluation (processed via our server-side proxy): When you tap to run AI evaluation and your subscription includes the feature, the App sends a request to our AZ HomeShield proxy, which forwards necessary data to xAI/Grok. We do not embed AI API keys in the App. Categories typically include:
- Issue text (title, room, description)
- Compressed JPEG versions of issue photos you selected for evaluation (not necessarily full-resolution originals)
- Builder interaction summary you have logged
- App version and prompt version identifiers
- ROC reference version metadata used for citations
The proxy returns structured evaluation results to the App. We do not run AI evaluation unless you request it.
Shared homes: If you create a household invite (QR code or deep link), the home you share—and its related rooms, issues, photos, and logs—becomes visible to participants who accept the invite, according to the role you grant (owner, editor, or viewer). Invite metadata is stored in Firebase (invites/ and homeMemberships/). You are responsible for choosing whom you invite.
Support contact: If you email us, we receive the information you include in your message.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Firebase (when signed in): Authentication identifiers (Firebase uid), sync metadata, and cloud copies of the home graph and photos needed to operate backup and multi-device sync.
Apple StoreKit / RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase status. Payments are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives entitlement status keyed to your Firebase uid as the app user id. We do not receive your payment card number.
Product analytics (App): The current App build logs product analytics events locally on device (for example, feature usage and paywall views) for development and diagnostics. We do not currently send App analytics to a third-party analytics processor. We do not include home addresses, issue descriptions, photo contents, or builder email addresses in analytics event properties. If we enable a remote analytics SDK later, we will update this Policy and our App Store privacy disclosures before shipping.
Website analytics (azhomeshield.com only): The AZ HomeShield website may use Cloudflare Web Analytics (and, if configured, Google Analytics 4) to measure aggregated traffic (for example, page views and approximate geography). Website analytics do not receive your in-app issue data. This Website analytics setup is separate from the Lawn Care Journal website.
Diagnostics: If we add crash or performance reporting, it may include device model, OS version, and app version—not your issue content.
1.3 Information From Third Parties
- Apple: Sign in with Apple identity; StoreKit subscriptions; Photos library access when you attach images; notification permission for optional builder follow-up reminders.
- Google Firebase: Auth, Firestore, and Storage services that hold your cloud copy when signed in.
- RevenueCat: Subscription entitlement status linked to your Firebase uid.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve AZ HomeShield
- Authenticate you (Sign in with Apple → Firebase Auth)
- Sync and back up your data across your devices when you are signed in
- Enable household sharing when you create or accept an invite
- Process AI evaluation when you request it (via our proxy to Grok)
- Generate ROC packet and related PDF exports on your device from your data
- Enforce free-tier limits (for example, a limited number of issue creates) and Pro entitlements
- Process in-app subscriptions (through Apple and RevenueCat; we receive entitlement status)
- Measure aggregated Website usage to improve the product
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your issue photos or descriptions for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
3. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We may share or expose your information as follows:
- Google Firebase: When you are signed in, your AZ HomeShield cloud copy (home graph metadata in Firestore; photos in Storage) is processed by Google Firebase under Google’s terms and Firebase data processing terms. Cloud data is linked to your Firebase uid.
- AZ HomeShield AI proxy and xAI/Grok: When you request AI evaluation, the App sends the categories described in §1.1 to our proxy, which calls Grok and returns results to your device. Do not request AI evaluation if you do not want those issue fields and compressed photos processed on our proxy and by the AI provider for that request.
- Shared participants: Anyone who accepts your home invite can see that home’s data while membership remains active, subject to their role. You can revoke membership in the App; revocation ends that participant’s access going forward, subject to any copies they exported outside the App.
- Apple (StoreKit) and RevenueCat: Subscription processing and entitlement checks.
- Google (GA4 — Website only): Aggregated usage data from azhomeshield.com pages via the web tag, as described in §1.2.
- Cloudflare (Website only): Aggregated traffic measurement on azhomeshield.com pages.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security. Where permitted, we will notify you of such requests.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, sale, acquisition, or reorganization. We will notify you of material changes to ownership or data practices where required.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. DATA RETENTION
On device: Your AZ HomeShield records remain on your device until you delete them in the App or remove the App’s data.
Cloud copy (Firebase): While you remain signed in and active, a cloud copy is retained to provide backup and sync. Cloud data for a home may be deleted after 12 months of inactivity on that home. Local device data is not automatically deleted by the inactivity policy.
In-app deletion: Use App controls to delete individual issues, photos, or other records as offered. Deleting local records should remove or mark corresponding cloud records on the next sync, subject to network availability.
Account / sign-out: Signing out stops cloud sync for that session on the device. Delete Account (Menu → Support & Legal or Cloud Backup) permanently removes your Sign in with Apple / Firebase Auth credential for AZ HomeShield, purges owned cloud home graphs and Storage objects when possible, removes your cloud membership links and invites you created, and erases local home data on that device. Shared homes you joined remain for other members after you leave. Uninstalling the App without Delete Account may leave a cloud copy until inactivity retention applies.
AI proxy: We retain proxy logs only as long as needed to operate, secure, and debug the Service, then delete or aggregate them consistent with our internal retention practices. We do not use proxy request content for advertising.
Website analytics: Aggregated analytics data is retained per Google and Cloudflare default retention settings.
Support email: We retain support correspondence as needed to respond and maintain business records.
5. DATA SECURITY
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process, including encryption in transit (HTTPS for App, proxy, Firebase, and Website requests), access controls on our systems, and reliance on Firebase/Google Cloud security controls for cloud-stored data. Local data benefits from iOS device protections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data breach. If a breach affects personal information we control, we will notify you as required by applicable law and notify regulators where required.
6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of personal information we control
- Correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion of personal information we control
- Portability of certain data
- Opt-out of certain processing (where applicable)
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@lawncarejournal.app. We will respond within 30 days.
In-app controls:
- Delete data: Delete issues, photos, and related records as offered in the App.
- Delete Account: Menu → Support & Legal or Cloud Backup → Delete Account removes your AZ HomeShield Auth account, owned cloud home data (best effort), cloud membership links, invites you created, and local home data on the device. Manage subscriptions separately in Apple Subscriptions.
- Revoke household sharing: Remove members or stop sharing a home in the App; revocation ends that participant’s access going forward.
- AI evaluation: AI processing occurs only when you request it; you can avoid it by not using the feature.
- Subscriptions: Manage or cancel AZ HomeShield Pro in your Apple ID → Subscriptions settings (also linked from in-app Support & Legal / paywall).
7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
AZ HomeShield is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. AI-GENERATED CONTENT
AZ HomeShield uses Grok through a server-side proxy when you request AI evaluation. AI output is educational and organizational only—not legal advice, inspection advice, or a prediction of ROC outcomes. AI may be wrong, incomplete, or outdated. Review all output before relying on it or sharing it with your builder or the ROC.
The AI provider, prompts, and ROC reference materials may change; we will update this Policy for material changes to data practices.
9. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
The App or Website may link to third-party sites (for example, official ROC resources, Apple support, or your builder’s website). Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. We encourage you to read their policies.
Email and PDF export: When you email your builder or share an exported PDF, you choose the recipient and channel; that transmission is outside our control once it leaves the App.
10. INTERNATIONAL USERS
AZ HomeShield is operated from the United States. If you access the App or Website from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate (including Google Firebase regions and AI infrastructure). By using the Service, you consent to such transfer and processing where permitted by law. Data protection laws in your country may differ from those in the U.S.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar laws:
- Legal basis: We process data based on contract performance (providing the App), legitimate interests (security, product improvement), and consent where required (for example, optional features you initiate).
- Data transfer: Data may be transferred to the U.S. and other countries. We use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
- Rights: You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, object, and withdraw consent. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights including:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Right to delete personal information we control (subject to exceptions)
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@lawncarejournal.app. We may verify your request as permitted by law.
Categories (illustrative): Identifiers (Firebase uid, Sign in with Apple identifiers, support email); customer records (home/issue content you enter); commercial information (subscription status via Apple / RevenueCat); internet activity (aggregated Website analytics); audio/visual information (photos you store in the App). Sources: You, your device, Apple, Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and our service providers. Business purposes: Provide the Service, security, support, sync. No sale of personal information.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App, on azhomeshield.com, and/or by in-app notice. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
